Childhood hero?

In football it was Rio Ferdinand. But I was also a huge fan of Tiger Woods. I’ve always loved watching golf and he was my favourite player.

First pair of football boots?

I think they were Adidas Predators. The old ones, they were really nice.

Favourite band or musician?

If I had to pick one, it would be Oasis. Being from Manchester, obviously they’re legendary. They’ve got some great tunes.

Everton initiation song?

I sang Ain’t No Mountain High Enough. It went alright, as good as I could have hoped!

Favourite TV programme?

Money Heist on Netflix is brilliant. Definitely one that I would recommend.

Best footballer you’ve faced?

As a one-off, in pre-season, I came up against Cristiano Ronaldo when I was at Manchester United. But if I think about players who played well against me in competitive games, Diego Costa is one that stands out. When I was at Burnley, I played against him at Stamford Bridge. He was world class. The runs he made were excellent and he worked so hard, too. He made it very difficult for the defenders.

Favourite food?

If I could treat myself to something, it would be a Chinese.

Least favourite food?

Sushi. I’m not having that at all!

Chosen superpower?

I think it would to be able to fly. I could just travel wherever I want and avoid the traffic!

Best mate in football?

Apart from my twin brother Will, my best friend would be George Boyd. We met when we were at Burnley. We joined the club at the same time, we left at the same time… We used to travel into training together every day. I’ve become really friendly with him and his family.
