Richarlison Sets Out Aim To Become An Everton Great

Richarlison is targeting the tangible success with Everton that would see him “remembered as a great player in the history of the Club”.

The Brazilian has scored 26 goals in 70 appearances and established himself as an influential figure since coming to Goodison Park from Watford in summer 2018.

Richarlison’s explosive start to his Everton career resulted in a first senior international summons and the forward has amassed 19 caps and won the Copa America following his national team debut 20 months ago.

His next mission from a Brazil standpoint is to achieve World Cup glory in 2022 – but top of Richarlison’s list of objectives is to aid Everton’s bid to join the limited selection of Premier League clubs competing for major honours.

“My goals are very clear in my head and they are interconnected,” Richarlison told evertonfc.com.

“Since I arrived, I have always stated that I want to be victorious playing for Everton.

“I want to help take the Club back to a prominent position and win trophies with Everton.

KENDALL ON EVERTON'S EUROPEAN TRIUMPH

Manager recalled night Blues won Cup Winners' Cup.

“I would love to achieve this goal and be remembered as a great player in the history of the Club.

“Regarding individual and long-term goals, my great purpose is to continue to be called up by Brazil and gain more importance in the squad, then have the opportunity to play in a World Cup.

“For that to happen, I need to continue performing well and scoring goals for Everton.”

Richarlison is in his third Premier League campaign after swapping Rio de Janeiro club Fluminense for Watford shortly after his 20th birthday in 2017.

His season-on-season returns have plotted an upwards trend since coming to England.

Richarlison’s single Watford campaign yielded five goals from 32 Premier League starts.

He began the same number of games for Everton last season, scoring 13 times, and this term had 10 goals from 27 starts before football was suspended in March.

After turning 23 last week, Richarlison insists he is entering a decisive phase of his career.

LIVERPOOL FAN ON HOW EVERTON CHARITY SAVED HIS LIFE

EitC programme's transformative impact on Derek Goodwin.

The South American, then, is intent on maintaining his positive direction of travel – and all indicators prior to football’s shutdown pointed to him doing just that.

Primarily employed as a central striker by Carlo Ancelotti following the Italian’s arrival in December, Richarlison contributed four goals and one assist in nine games under his new boss and was refining his game to productive ends.

“I believe that we always have room to improve, regardless of the level we reach in the game,” said Richarlison.

“I am only 23 and just starting my career.

“I have a lot to learn, especially in a team with so many good players and a tremendous coach.

"I want to take this opportunity to be the best player possible in every aspect.

“I believe I am coming into the peak years of my career.

“Although I am still young, I think at this age we are at the peak of our physical shape and that is when the great players really start to burn bright.

“I hope that my birthday and this new cycle of my life bring me many good things and that I can always grow and stand out with my club.”
