Everton Fans' Forum Welcomes 2019/20 Premier League Survey Results

Everton’s Fans’ Forum has welcomed the results of the 2019/20 Premier League Fan Survey – which sees Everton score 26% higher than the Premier League average for listening to its supporters, and Club staff ranked amongst the best in the country.

Now in its 22nd year, the independent survey is commissioned by the Premier League and analyses the views of fans from all top-flight clubs in categories covering custodianship, sentiment towards the club, facilities and customer service.

Everton Fans’ Forum Chair, Jazz Bal, says the results show supporters and the Club are united in their long-term vision and ambition, and that fans believe Everton continues to live up to its reputation as The People’s Club.

Jazz said: “The Premier League Fan Survey is extensive - covering 26 categories - and I am delighted to see Everton has again surpassed or matched the Premier League average across most categories, with the Club’s staff scoring particularly highly.

“The Club’s commitment to keeping an open dialogue with us as a Forum, other supporters’ groups and the wider fanbase really comes through in the impressive results on communications and engagement. The results show that Everton is one of the leading Premier League clubs when it comes to the needs of supporters.”

The survey, which covers 26 categories, allows participants to answer questions about the level of service fans get from their club’s staff. Everton has consistently scored well over the years with the Everton Fan Centre (ticket office) team moving up two places to third, stewards have moved up from fourth to third, Club staff in general moving up from sixth to fifth place and catering staff maintaining their solid ranking at fourth place in the Premier League.

The results also show that fans applauded the Club’s communication with them, with Everton exceeding the Premier League average score in nine out of 10 categories – Everton is ranked 26% above the Premier League average in the extent it listens to supporters (3% above the Club’s 2018/19 score).

Evertonians value the ease with which they can contact the Club through the Everton Fan Centre and Everton Fan Services channels. Contact by phone scored 20% higher than Premier League average, the Club’s response to contact from fans 17% higher than Premier League average and email communications 6% higher than Premier League average.

Fan approval of the Club’s community engagement stands at 97% – 18% higher than the Premier League average, while approval of fan engagement stands at an impressive 24% higher than the Premier League average.

The Club’s commitment to the community continues to be ranked as outstanding, with 98% agreeing Everton makes a significant contribution (20% higher than the Premier League average). This was recognised nationally earlier this year, with Everton in the Community given a royal seal of approval after a visit from the Duke of Cambridge.

Everton’s Blue Family campaign has seen the Club and Everton in the Community respond quickly and decisively to the coronavirus pandemic with a coordinated outreach and engagement campaign. Club staff from the Everton Fan Centre and Everton in the Community joined players, the manager, the CEO and the chairman to make contact with fans and members of the community as the Club provides vital support and assistance to some of the most vulnerable, socially isolated and at-risk members of the community.

EVERTON MANAGER ANCELOTTI MAKES SURPRISE FAN CALL

Boss talks about famous Goodison nights with Evertonian Mark.

The custodianship of the Club continues to be backed strongly by fans, with ratings across the nine custodianship categories either surpassing or equalling the Premier League average. Everton’s commitment to maintaining the ethos and traditions of the Club is reflected in a score of 92%, consistent with last year and 18% higher than the Premier League average.

75% of fans believe that Everton is well run, which remains 7% above the Premier League average. Support of the Club’s long-term vision stands at 84% – 16% higher than the Premier League average. Fans also appreciate the Club’s openness and transparency (14% higher than the Premier League average) and investment in facilities (5% higher than the Premier League average).

Goodison Park’s matchday atmosphere has improved by three places nationally compared to last year. Over the past three seasons, the Club has worked alongside supporter groups including the Everton Fans’ Forum and The Originals to embark on a series of activities to enhance matchday atmosphere, with the introduction of the Z-Cars siren, a new singing section in GT8 and more banners and flags.

Jazz Bal added: “Clear, two-way communication with supporters is key, and it’s obvious from these results that our fans believe the Club continues to value this highly – something that really came to the fore in the consultation for our new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock and the community-led legacy at Goodison Park. Our supporters’ amazing scores of 92% approval of the Club’s commitment to maintaining ethos and traditions and 97% approval of community engagement gives a strong sense that Evertonians feel they and the Club are on this journey together.

“It is fantastic to see Club staff, being recognised nationally for their work in making matchdays memorable for our supporters. They really do make home games special and on behalf of the Fans’ Forum I’d like to congratulate them all – and the Club even more so, for their stance during these troubling times, in looking after them in recognition for their efforts.

“There is of course always room for improvement, and as a forum we will be looking at the full results and updates in the areas where the Club did not reach Premier League average; I believe these were mainly due to the age of our current stadium and the facilities it can offer.

“The improvement in matchday atmosphere is also really encouraging and I would like to thank the supporters’ groups that have played their part in this and we look forward to picking up and continuing this work again in the future.

“This Premier League Fan Survey is ultimately about relationships, notably between us as fans and the Club. The Fans’ Forum is proud to play its part in not only maintaining, but strengthening, the relationship between supporters and the Club. To do that to the best of our ability, we need Evertonians to continue coming to us with their ideas and feedback. As an independent supporters’ group, we are here to represent the fanbase, wherever they are in the world, as part of one Blue Family.”
