Pickford, Mina And Gomes Become Latest Everton Stars In Angry Birds Game

Everton has again joined forces with global gaming giant Rovio Entertainment to transform three of the Club’s international stars, Jordan Pickford, Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes, into Angry Birds Friends characters.

Pickford, Mina and Gomes will be portrayed as the Green Pigs in the Angry Birds Friends game, with gamers able to catapult objects into the pigs with the Blues stars’ characters offering an increased level of points.

The time-limited in-game tournament allows people from anywhere in the world to play against each other in a Goodison Park-themed arena.

Gamers only have between Thursday 30 April until Wednesday 6 May to take part in the Everton-themed tournament.

The game is available to download on mobile devices through the App Store, as well as being playable within a web browser through Facebook.

Everton and Rovio have collaborated on a number of innovative, engaging and award-winning campaigns over the past three years. In August 2018, Blues stars Theo Walcott, Cenk Tosun and Gylfi Sigurdsson became the first footballers to feature in
an Angry Birds game. The Everton trio featured as “extra-rare five-star” playable Angry Birds Evolution characters.

Rovio has created unique tournaments within their games before and has worked with other partners such as the National Hockey League (NHL), Iron Maiden and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).

Angry Birds Friends can be played with family or friends and has had more than 149 million installs to date.

Everton’s shirt sleeve partnership with Rovio and the Angry Birds franchise, which has more than 4.5 billion downloads since the original game launched in 2009, was the Finland-based company’s first venture into Premier League football in 2017.
