Cup Winning Trio Recall Steamrolling Spurs In Semi-Final

It is 25 years since Everton overwhelmed Tottenham Hotspur in an exhilarating FA Cup semi-final at Elland Road.

To mark the anniversary of one of the most complete Blues’ performances of the 1990s three members of Joe Royle’s team got together to share their memories of a heady day.

Barry Horne, Joe Parkinson and Matt Jackson were essential figures in the team which would beat Manchester United in the final.

In this Official Everton Podcast the trio recall every element of the day they turned over highly-fancied Tottenham – and give us an insight into the dressing room mood from the third round victory over Derby County to the post-Wembley celebrations which ‘never got going’.

The brilliant midfield pair of Parkinson and Horne and classy right-back Jackson explain how manager Royle transformed Everton from a relegation-haunted side early in the 1994/95 campaign into one which backed itself against all comers.

We learn why Everton beating Spurs was never in doubt, which of Royle’s squad was a 'Rolls Royce', who in the squad was viewed as ‘alternative’ and the identity of two players caught practising their goal celebrations in a quiet corner of Bellefield.

And there is a mention for the surprise star of Everton’s lively team night out following the comprehensive victory over Spurs.
