To mark the 50th anniversary of Everton's 1969/70 title win, evertontv set out to tell the story of what remains one of the most revered seasons in the Club's history as recalled by those who played in it and watched it.

Everton, managed by disciplinarian Harry Catterick and inspired on the pitch by the Holy Trinity of Alan Ball, Colin Harvey and Howard Kendall, swaggered their way to the First Division crown, finishing nine points clear of their nearest rivals, Don Revie's vaunted Leeds United.

The final game - a goalless draw at Sunderland that somewhat betrayed the artistry that had preceded it - was played 50 years ago this week, on 8 April 1970, the title having been secured eight days earlier with a 2-0 home win over West Bromwich Albion.
