Everton Donates Food As Blue Family Campaign Steps Up

Fresh food intended for players and staff at Everton’s USM Finch Farm training headquarters was donated to North Liverpool Foodbank [NLF] on Friday.

Everton and its official charity Everton in the Community [EitC] this week launched its Blue Family campaign, designed to support and assist some of the city's most vulnerable community members following the coronavirus outbreak.

Produce collected from USM Finch Farm was delivered to NLF where it will be packaged into essential food parcels ready for distribution to those in need across north Liverpool.

Throughout the day, the Club's Fan Services team continued to call vulnerable, isolated and at-risk people across Merseyside to ensure the Blue Family initiative continued to support those in need.

Everton’s Neighbourhood Manager Sarah Atherton helped transport food to NLF and delivered emergency parcels to homes on the Club’s Blue Mile, encompassing the regions of Walton, Everton, Kirkdale and Anfield.

She said: "Blue Family is a fantastic initiative. Everybody is coming together, we’ve been contacting vulnerable fans, our neighbours in the Blue Mile and participants across EitC’s 43 projects – and the response brings a tear of pride to your eye.

“Hearing people thanking you for checking in on them brings you so much happiness.

"We will be joining other organisations in coming to NLF to package emergency parcels and assist with their distribution city wide.

“Communities are coming together in this current climate under the Blue Family campaign. And together we are stronger.”

Everton in the Community staff will offer a breadth of assistance and advice under the Blue Family banner.

In addition to food parcels and breakfast packs for young children, members of the community in greatest need will have access to financial assistance for prescription purchases and delivery, as well as mental health support and advice.

Those living alone and with limited support networks will be aided with mobile phone credit. Help with gas and/or electricity vouchers will be available for those facing increased fuel bills.

Blue Family has also seen the Club and charity introduce a referral form enabling fans and the wider public to refer people they believe might need a friendly voice to speak to at this difficult time.
