Ancelotti: Evertonians' Welcome 'Is Best I've Ever Had'

Carlo Ancelotti says the welcome he has received from Evertonians tops any he has received in his 25-year managerial career, declaring “other places were good but here is the best”.

Ancelotti was appointed Everton manager ahead of the Blues’ home match against Arsenal on 21 December and was given a rapturous, sustained ovation upon being introduced to the fans at Goodison Park.

The Italian is one of the most successful managers in European football and has led a host of illustrious clubs including AC Milan, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Paris St. Germain.

He has won 20 trophies as a manager including a joint-record three Champions League titles.

While his exceptional feats mean he is revered by football supporters across the continent, Ancelotti says the warmth he has received from Everton fans has been unparalleled.

“Honestly, even in Italy I didn't have a reception like it,” Ancelotti said.

“Maybe only Milan, I had this kind of thing.

“Other places were good but here was the best.

“The first day I received a fantastic reception.”

DEPARTING MAIER & SEVECKE THANK BLUES

Defender duo Leonie Maier and Rikke Sevecke reflect on their final Everton match as the pair are set to depart the Club this summer.

Ancelotti won a Premier League and FA Cup double with Chelsea in 2009/10 and will be in the opposing dugout at Stamford Bridge for the first time since leaving the club when Everton face the west London side in a Premier League clash on Sunday (2pm)

The Italian reflected on his tenure at Chelsea and revealed his appetite to win more silverware in England with Everton.

"I have fantastic memories of my time there and I am really excited to go back," said Ancelotti.

"When I arrived at Chelsea the team was ready to fight for the title, while at Everton there is the idea to be at the top but it’s going to take time.

“The Club has the ambition and also they have the possibility [to achieve success].

“Before joining I spoke with [Majority Shareholder] Mr Moshiri, [Chairman] Mr Kenwright and [Director of Football] Marcel Brands.

“The project was clear and I am here to try to reach what they have in mind.”
