Tuesday’s Liverpool Echo reflects on Andre Gomes’ impressive return to action in Everton's Premier League game at Arsenal on Sunday.

Gomes played the final 30 minutes of the game at Emirates Stadium in his first match since suffering a fractured ankle in Everton’s 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur on 3 November.

Writing in his regular column for the Echo, former Everton left-back Michael Ball says Gomes showed “tremendous mentality and strength to come back as quickly as he has done”.

Everton forward Anthony Gordon also features in the local read. The Academy graduate, who celebrated his 19th birthday on Monday, says his game has developed significantly by training with the Blues’ first-team players.

"There's so much more ability that I've gained just from being around them, the speed of play, combination play – everything,” said Gordon, in an interview originally given to evertontv.

"Your whole game improves when you're playing with such good players.”

The Echo also links Everton with a move for Toulouse captain Ibrahim Sangare. The 22-year-old midfielder has been capped five times by Ivory Coast.

And women’s football publication SheKicks reports on the news Everton defender Gabby George has ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).

In a Twitter post, George admitted she was “devastated” by the injury but has vowed to return “stronger, fitter and faster”.
