Monday’s Liverpool Echo carries quotes from Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti, who said his team must match their impressive attacking play with resilient defensive performances after the Blues were edged out 3-2 at Arsenal on Sunday.

“Our attacking play was good, we had a lot of opportunities to score more goals,” he said.

“We have to defend better. This is the focus that we are going to have in the next week.”

Andre Gomes made his comeback after ankle surgery in the game at Emirates Stadium and the Portuguese also features in the Echo.

He paid tribute to the support he received from the Club and fans during his rehabilitation.

“The team were great, the Evertonians and also general football supporters,” he said. “Everyone has been wonderful with me.”

The Times highlights the growing understanding between Everton strike pair Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Both players netted against Arsenal and have hit a combined 22 Premier League goals so far this season.

Times reporter James Gheerbrant writes: "The nascent understanding between Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin — their ability to pull defences out of position to create space for each other, the instinctive step-ahead awareness of each other’s next move — is reminiscent of some of the best strike partnerships Ancelotti has coached in his illustrious career.”

The Daily Record, meanwhile, links Everton with a move for Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard.

The 22-year-old Frenchman has scored 25 goals in 41 games for the Scottish champions this term.
