Stunning Kaagman Goal Ensures Everton's Cup Progress

A stunning long-range Inessa Kaagman strike proved decisive as Everton booked their spot in the fifth round of the FA Cup with a 1-0 win over London Bees at Southport FC on Sunday.

The Netherlands international crashed a 25-yard shot in off the post on the stroke of half-time.

Everton were dominant throughout, with Chaney Boye-Hlorkah and Chloe Kelly hitting the woodwork as Willie Kirk’s side created a host of chances.

The draw for the fifth round takes place on Monday evening from 6.40pm.

The Blues were the more progressive side from the outset and Simone Magill saw an effort well blocked with just seven minutes on the clock.

Everton came even closer after a quarter of an hour. Gabby George – immaculate throughout - created the chance. She whipped in an inviting cross which Boye-Hlorkah prodded at goal, but Bees keeper Sarah Quantrill stood tall to make the save.

Boye-Hlorkah’s intelligent movement was causing the away side all manner of problems and she saw a shot from close range cleared off the line, before her teasing delivery from wide on the right evaded everyone and struck the woodwork.

The in-form Kelly was buzzing around with purposeful intent and her shot from 25 yards was well saved by Quantrill.

Everton continued to press and deservedly made the breakthrough when Kaagman expertly found the top corner on 45 minutes.

Kelly almost doubled the Toffees’ advantage in added time at the end of the first period – her daisy-cutter going fractions wide.

The Blues did not let up in the second half and Kelly had the ball in the net minutes into the restart but saw her header ruled out for offside.

Substitute Molly Pike then forced a brilliant fingertip stop from Quantrill, before Kelly saw a superb 20-yard effort strike the post.

The Blues then successfully repelled a last-gasp London Bees rally to secure their spot in the fifth round of the cup.
