Everton Seal Signing Of Australia Forward

Everton Women have completed the signing of Australia international forward Hayley Raso from Brisbane Roar for an undisclosed fee.

Raso will be available for the Blues from mid-February after competing for Australia in Olympic qualifying matches in China.

The 25-year-old is Everton’s third signing of the January transfer window, with Willie Kirk’s side having already brought in England midfielder Izzy Christiansen and talented goalkeeper Sandy MacIver.

Raso, whose signing was announced on Everton’s social media channels by Blues and Australia great Tim Cahill, said: “It means so much to me to sign for Everton. I’m extremely excited to make the move to develop myself and continue my footballing journey at this amazing club.

“Everton is a world-class club. The facilities, staff and players are among the best and I’m proud to be able to join.

“Willie has developed a strong team and makes such a positive impact on the players he coaches. I’m really looking forward to the opportunity of being coached by him and I know I will learn and grow alongside my teammates.

“I’m hoping I can continue my form. I’d love to score goals for Everton. I want to help the team to the best of my ability and I cannot wait to play my first game in blue.”

Raso, who started her career at Canberra United, made her senior international debut aged 17. She featured in every match for Australia at the 2019 Women’s World Cup as her side reached the last 16 of the competition. She has also played in the USA for Portland Thorns.

Everton Women’s Kirk added: “Hayley is a very exciting talent and I cannot wait to start working with her. I’ve been tracking her for almost a year now, watching closely her performances with Portland, Brisbane and Australia.

“At 25, she has great experience. Having played in the NWSL, the W-League, accumulated more than 40 caps for her country and having to overcome a very serious injury, she adds resilience, maturity, and professionalism to the squad.

“There are also areas of her game that we can enhance further and I’m certain she will be a great asset to the Club.”
