Turkish international striker Tosun featured in his first game for Crystal Palace, coming on as substitute midway through the second half. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - who was later dismissed - gave the Gunners the lead, before Jordan Ayew netted a 53rd-minute leveller for Palace.

SHEFFIELD UNITED 1-0 West Ham United

Besic was introduced in the 70th minute at Bramall Lane with the Blades 1-0 up through an Oli McBurnie goal. The Bosnian helped United see out the game, with West Ham having a late Declan Rice effort ruled out by VAR.

Dowell played the full 90 minutes against Bristol City but his Latics team were beaten 2-0 by the Championship play-off chasers. Operating on the left wing, he almost scored a fortuitous home debut goal when he blocked a clearance and the ball ricocheted into the side netting.

Defender Pennington started as Hull City were edged out by Championship high-fliers Fulham on Saturday. Ivan Cavaleiro's 29th-minute strike proved decisive at the KCOM Stadium.

Speedy winger Bowler was introduced as a late substitute with Hull chasing a leveller. The Tigers could not find a way through, however, and slip to 11th in the Championship table.

Everton Academy graduate Connolly made his Fleetwood debut at the Pirelli Stadium but saw his side beaten after an 89th-minute winner from Burton’s Ryan Edwards. Fleetwood drop to 10th in League One but are just two points off the play-off places.

Garbutt continued in his familiar berth at left wing-back for third-placed League One side Ipswich as they cruised to a convincing 4-1 victory over Accrington. Garbutt was involved in his side’s first goal when he slipped a pass through for Flynn Downes, whose cut back was converted by striker Kayden Jackson.

Sandro featured in Real Valladolid’s Copa Del Rey match against Marbella FC. His side drew 1-1, before ultimately triumphing in a penalty shootout.

Jonjoe Kenny (Schalke) and Fraser Hornby (KV Kortrijk) were not in competitive action due to winter breaks in the German Bundesliga and Dutch Eredivisie. Nathan Broadhead missed Burton's win over Fleetwood because of a hamstring injury.
