Teenage Everton Striker Signs First Pro Deal

Everton Under-18s striker Lewis Dobbin declared his pride after signing his first professional contract with the Club, as he set out his desire to continue improving his all-round game.

The talented attacker, who turned 17 last week, has penned a deal until the end of June 2022.

Dobbin has hit six goals in 10 U18 Premier League (North) appearances this season.

The Stoke-born teenager joined the Blues aged 11 and paid tribute to his family and the coaching staff at Everton for aiding his impressive progress.

“Signing a first pro deal is a really proud moment for me and my family and shows hard work can pay off,” Dobbin told evertonfc.com.

“I really want to push for more in future.

“My family have helped me a lot through my whole time playing football. They have made a lot of sacrifices for me and their dedication has paid off in this moment.

“The coaches at Everton are brilliant. The Under-18s manager, Paul Tait, and [assistant manager] Keith Southern have really helped me.

“They have done individual work with me to help improve the areas I needed to most.”

Dobbin pinpointed the aspects of game he believes he can develop – and set out his goals for the remainder of the 2019/20 campaign.

“My finishing with both feet needs to improve, as well as winning headers up against defenders and scoring goals with my head,” he added.

“It’s been hard going up the age groups, playing against older and more physical players. A real test. I feel I have matured and adapted to the football well.

“I want make my breakthrough into the Under-23s, and try to become a regular towards the end of the season.

“I have to keep working hard, be patient and keep improving my game.”
