Ancelotti Outlines What Attracted Him To Everton

Manager Carlo Ancelotti has revealed Everton's respected mixture of history, tradition and ambition - plus the fierce passion of its supporters - is what drew him to the Club.

Ancelotti was officially unveiled to the media at Goodison Park on Monday morning, 48 hours after being confirmed as the 18th man to lead the Blues.

And, speaking to the assembled journalists inside the Alex Young Suite - fittingly named after one of Everton's greatest ever players - Ancelotti outlined how the Club's standing in the world game made it such an attractive proposition.

The Italian, who has managed clubs including Juventus, AC Milan, Chelsea, Paris St Germain, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, said: "The biggest factor was the ambition of the Club, the history that this Club has, the tradition and the atmosphere [created by] the supporters.

"These are all the reasons. Also, this Club, we want to improve, we want to be a better team, we want to compete, and so these are the reasons I decided to come here.

"I love to train, I love to manage and I am really passionate about my job. Now I work for Everton, it is a fantastic club, and my dream is to bring Everton in the top positions of the Premier League as soon as possible."

Ancelotti was at Goodison on Saturday to watch Everton play out a goalless draw with Arsenal in caretaker manager Duncan Ferguson's final game at the helm.

The results has left the Blues 15th in the Premier League table but having gone unbeaten in a three-game spell in the competition that has also included matches against Chelsea and Manchester United.

Ancelotti will now begin preparations for Boxing Day's visit of Burnley and says he can't wait to get to work with his new squad.

The Italian confirmed at his press conference that Ferguson will remain a key component of the Club's first-team coaching set up.

"Honestly, all the people I met on Saturday they were really kind - the owner, the Chairman, all the Board, all the supporters - so it was a really good day for me," said Ancelotti.

"And after that I saw the game, saw the team and I have my idea of the team, of the squad and today I start to work with a lot of commitment and I am really excited.

"I want to start and I want to try my best to help the team to be better and help the Club to be competitive and give happiness to the supporters, because there's been a lot of time that this club didn't win [a trophy].

"It will not be overnight but we have to be patient, with a clear idea and a clear focus, and I am sure we are going to improve quickly."
