Four Back In Contention For Everton's Arsenal Clash

Duncan Ferguson is hoping for a deeper squad to choose from for Everton's Premier League meeting with Arsenal after four players who missed Wednesday's Carabao Cup tie against Leicester City trained on the eve of Saturday's game.

Lucas Digne, who was forced off by a groin problem midway through the opening half of last Sunday's draw at Manchester United, participated in "light training" at USM Finch Farm on Friday.

Left-back Digne was joined by Fabian Delph, sidelined by a muscle injury since Everton's draw with Tottenham Hotspur on 3 November, and the pair of Gylfi Sigurdsson and Djibril Sidibe who have both been hit by illness and missed the games against United and Leicester.

Caretaker manager Ferguson remains without Theo Walcott and Morgan Schneiderlin for this weekend's Goodison match after that duo missed Everton's past two games with their respective calf problems.

"Lucas Digne, Djibril Sidibe, Fabian Delph and Gylfi Sigurdsson all took part in a light training session today [Friday] at USM Finch Farm," Ferguson told evertonfc.com.

"They will continue to be assessed before a decision is made on whether or not to include them in the squad for Saturday's Premier League game with Arsenal."

Ferguson oversaw a 3-1 Goodison Park victory over Chelsea in his first match at the helm a fortnight ago.

He was able to make only one change to his team for the midweek encounter with Leicester – Digne replaced by Leighton Baines – three days after Everton's visit to Old Trafford.

Ferguson added: "We are asking players to play three games in six days, so there is some concern, but I will pick the strongest team I can and I am sure they will all step up."
