US Blues Gather In Miami For United Clash

Hundreds of Evertonians were in attendance as the Club enjoyed a resoundingly successful weekend engaging with US-based supporters in Miami.

Following the huge success of October’s trip to Austin, Texas, and similar events throughout last season, the Blues once again travelled Stateside for the two-day Premier League Mornings Live Fan Fest.

Blues supporters from across the States attended the occasion at the famous Cleveland hotel on Miami’s South Beach.

The American Toffees witnessed an impressive Everton performance, as the Blues drew 1-1 with Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Everton's two official US-focused social media channels - @EvertonInUSA on Instagram and Twitter - also received a boost, with the Club's coverage of the weekend and special collaborations with NFL side Miami Dolphins and NBA outfit Miami Heat helping to grow the number of American followers.

Everton is known by its US fanbase as ‘America’s Team’ and there are many connections between the Blues and US football which have helped develop support for the Club across the Atlantic.

The Toffees have Hollywood connections, with Sylvester Stallone having shown his support for the Club by attending a match at Goodison Park in 2007 before using the venue as a setting for the climactic fight scene in 2015 move Creed.

Lifelong Blue and champion boxer Tony Bellew played the role of the main protagonist in that movie opposite Michael B Jordan.

On the pitch, Everton Academy graduate and former England captain Wayne Rooney thrived at MLS outfit DC United, whilst Everton fan favourite Tim Cahill enjoyed a fruitful stint for New York Red Bulls.

Everton Giant (hall of famer) Adrian Heath is currently managing Minnesota United and former Blues left-back Antonee Robinson has so far earned seven senior caps for the USA, following in the footsteps of Tim Howard and Landon Donovan who are just two of a number of former Blues who made an impact on the US Men’s National Team (USMNT).
