Ferguson Provides Fitness Updates On Five Everton Players

Duncan Ferguson is hoping to have Seamus Coleman available for Everton’s visit to Manchester United on Sunday – but the Blues’ caretaker manager is waiting on the fitness of a handful of players.

Right-back Coleman has been sidelined with a rib injury and last featured in Everton’s meeting with Norwich City in November.

Fellow full-back Lucas Digne hurt his groin against Chelsea on Saturday and was replaced late in the match by Leighton Baines.

Ferguson admits Frenchman Digne is a “concern” ahead of this weekend’s game at Old Trafford.

The Scot, who oversaw Everton’s stirring Goodison Park victory over Chelsea five days ago, also provided fitness updates on defender Yerry Mina, forward Theo Walcott and midfielder Fabian Delph.

FERGUSON URGES EVERTON TO CARRY 'FEELGOOD FACTOR' INTO UNITED CLASH

Caretaker manager preparing for Old Trafford visit.

Mina missed the Chelsea match with a hamstring issue, while a calf problem forced Walcott off towards the end of that game.

England international Delph, who has started six times in the Premier League following his summer move from Manchester City, is nursing a muscle problem which has kept him out of action for six weeks.

“Seamus has done a little bit of training and is gradually picking up, so he could come into consideration for the weekend,” Ferguson told evertonfc.com.

“Fabian Delph is similar, he’s joined in some training but is a doubt. And Yerry Mina has done a bit of training with us, we will see how he is in the next couple of days.”

On Digne and Walcott, Ferguson added: “Lucas is a concern but we are hoping he could be okay for Sunday.

“Theo may not be ready because of the problem he sustained against Chelsea.”
