The Times and the Liverpool Echo carry quotes from Everton caretaker manager Duncan Ferguson, who has revealed he wore a watch belonging to the great Howard Kendall during the Blues’ stirring 3-1 victory against Chelsea on Saturday.

Ferguson was given the watch by Kendall’s window, Lily, on the morning of the game.

"She said she wanted me to wear it on the bench for Howard,” Ferguson said.

“I loved him. It was very emotional.”

The Echo also features Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who netted twice in a man-of-the-match performance in Everton’s success at Goodison Park.

The 22-year-old striker explained how Ferguson’s guidance helped to inspire his excellent all-round display.

"He just said work as hard as you can and play free,” Calvert-Lewin said.

"Relieve any pressure I've been putting on myself or anything like that, just enjoy the game, work hard in the shape with Richy [Richarlison]. To have him on the touchline, it was important I repaid him with my performance.”

The Daily Mail claims former FC Porto boss Vitor Pereira is “the leading candidate” to be Everton’s new manager.

The Portuguese is currently in charge at Chinese team Shanghai SIPG.

The paper reports Mauricio Pochettino, Carlo Ancelotti, Ralf Rangnick, Leonardo Jardim, David Moyes and Eddie Howe are also on the Blues’ radar.
