Everton Boss Provides Injury Updates

Marco Silva has revealed Bernard might be fit to play a part at Leicester City on Sunday but Fabian Delph, Morgan Schneiderlin (foot) and Theo Walcott (sickness bug) are major doubts for the clash at the King Power Stadium.

And the Blues boss revealed in his pre-match press conference that captain Seamus Coleman will miss the trip to the Foxes with a rib injury.

Brazilian forward Bernard has sat out Everton’s past three matches with a knee injury he sustained at Brighton and Hove Albion last month but took part in a full training session this week at USM Finch Farm.

Midfielder Delph, however, has continued training away from his teammates as he recovers from the hamstring problem which has sidelined him for two matches.

“Bernard is working with the team and did a full session yesterday morning,” said Silva. “It is the type of injury where he needs to build confidence and work more days with the team to see how he will react.

“He is getting better every day and it is possible Bernard will be able to play soon.

“It will be difficult for Fabian to be fit. Let’s see how he will be the next few days."

He added: "Morgan is a big doubt for the match, Theo the same.

"And more bad news is that, unfortunately for us, Coleman will be out as well."

Silva is also missing long-term absentees Andre Gomes and Jean-Phillipe Gbamin.

The Portuguese nevertheless refused to use missing personnel as a reason for his side’s display against Norwich.

“Injuries do have an affect but I am not a manager who comes here to find excuses – to say things have happened because we didn’t have certain players,” said Silva.

“But when you are playing and working without some key players, it is not good.

“The past few games we played without three or four players who would normally be in our starting XI.

“Any team in the world would feel that.

“But when this happens it is the moment for others to show their quality. It is what Tom [Davies] has done in the past month and a half."
