Under-18s Fall To Norwich Defeat

Everton Under-18s lost their final Premier League Cup group fixture against Norwich City at USM Finch Farm on Saturday and will have to wait three days to learn whether they advance to the competition's last eight.

Paul Tait’s side had defeated Sunderland and Fulham in their opening two games but went down 3-0 to a bright Norwich team.

The Canaries, who came into this contest two points adrift of Everton at the Group C summit, led 2-0 at half-time courtesy of a double from centre-forward Tyrese Omotoye.

And with manager Tait’s young Blues pursuing a route back into the game Zach Dronfield advanced to strike the killer blow with 19 minutes remaining.

Stoke City have secured one of two quarter-final positions available for best second-placed teams from the six groups, with West Bromwich Albion needing to topple Manchester United on Tuesday to progress at Everton's expense.
