Kean Scores Twice As Italy Under-21s Thrash Armenia

Everton forward Moise Kean struck twice as Italy thumped Armenia 6-0 in a European Under-21 Championship qualifier on Tuesday.

Twenty-four hours after their senior counterparts thrashed the same nation 9-1 in Euro 2020 qualifying, Gli Azzurrini took a 15th-minute lead when Kean slotted through the legs of goalkeeper Sevak Aslanyan.

Andrea Pinamonti doubled the advantage 10 minutes later, before Kean stabbed in his second from close range four minutes before half-time.

Midfielder Niccolo Zanellato added Italy's fourth soon after the break and further strikes from Gianluca Scamacca and Enrico del Prato completed the scoring. Kean played the full 90 minutes.

The result leaves Italy second in qualification Group One, three points behind Republic of Ireland but with two games in hand.

Having captained England Under-21s to a 3-0 qualifying success in Albania on Friday, Tom Davies was an unused substitute for the young Lions' 2-1 friendly defeat in Holland.

Lewis Gibson, meanwhile, helped England Under-20s to a 3-0 friendly win over Iceland in Wycombe.

Nathan Broadhead, on loan at Burton Albion, played the full 90 minutes as Wales defeated Bosnia and Herzegovina 1-0 in a European Under-21 qualifier in Wrexham.

Joao Virginia, on loan at Reading, was an unused substitute as Portugal Under-21s won a qualifier 3-2 in Norway.
