Iwobi Gets Nigeria Off To A Winning Start

Alex Iwobi played the full match as Nigeria came from behind to get their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign off to a winning start with a 2-1 victory at home to Benin.

Blues forward Iwobi started the Group L opener in Uyo as the Super Eagles look to reach the 2021 finals in Cameroon, having finished third at this summer's tournament hosted by Egypt.

It was Benin who took a shock fifth-minute lead when Stephane Sessegnon slotted home, only for Nigeria to level just before the break courtesy of Victor Osimhen's penalty.

Nigeria dominated the second half and got their reward with 20 minutes remaining when Samuel Kalu netted the winner. Iwobi is due to return to action with his country on Sunday for an AFCON qualifier away to Lesotho.
