Marco Silva reveals his pride in how Richarlison has continued to develop in Monday’s edition of the Liverpool Echo.

The Brazilian was the match-winner as Everton beat Southampton 2-1 at St Mary’s Stadium on Saturday.

Silva was the manager who first brought Richarlison to England, signing the attacker from Fluminense in 2017 when he was in charge at Watford.

“Richarlison came to the Premier League at 20 years old, a young boy, he didn't speak English, nothing,” Silva explained. “Maybe I am one of the most happy people in the world when I see him achieving what he has achieved

“Our fans love him, it is good to see him scoring and it is good to see him recognise how we are important for him as well.”

Teenage forward Anthony Gordon was named in the Everton Premier League matchday squad for the first time in Saturday’s match.

Silva tells the Echo the 18-year-old Academy graduate is a player with significant potential.

"He is a player I am 100 per cent sure will be the future of Everton Football Club,” Silva said.

"He can be the present but will be the future of Everton Football Club and will have a fantastic career if he has people here to help him, keep helping him, keep teaching him because they [young players] need that."

Tom Davies impressed in the victory at Southampton, and the Echo reports the midfielder has been named in the BBC Team of the Week.

Pundit Garth Crooks described Davies’ performance as “quite outstanding".
