Everton in the Community marked International Stress Awareness Week by holding a football tournament for more than 20 teams from around the UK.
Hosted at Goals Netherton by the charity’s Health and Wellbeing Manager, Johnnie Garside, and its Imagine Your Goals programmes, the three-tiered tournament attracted teams from right across the country including teams from Street Soccer Scotland and south Wales, as well as sides representing Football League clubs including Swindon Town, Carlisle United and Stoke City.
Emerging victorious on the day were local side Liverpool Homeless FC, while second place honours went to ‘A Better Tomorrow’. Street Soccer Scotland took third place, with Club Ambassador Ian Snodin on hand to present trophies and speak with participants about the day.
International Stress Awareness Week takes place in the first week of November and aims to raise awareness about stress prevention and the importance for individuals and organisations in order to ensure that those who are suffering from stress know where to go to seek advice.
