Everton Football Club has launched a reusable cups scheme in partnership with Official Catering Partner Sodexo to help reduce the amount of single-use plastics on a matchday at Goodison Park.
This weekend’s Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur will be the first game the reusable cups will be implemented around the stadium with supporters encouraged to put their used cups in designated stackable bins on the concourse.
The initiative forms part of the Club’s environmental awareness campaign, ‘Everton for Change’, which was launched earlier this week with the aim of exploring new ways for the Club and Everton in the Community to make a positive impact on the planet.
Over the course of a full season it is estimated Everton, with the help of staff and supporters will prevent approximately 75,000 single-use plastic pint pots from polluting the environment thanks to the introduction of reusable cups at Goodison Park.
Reusable cups will be in operation within the stadium while the FanZone outside the Sir Philip Carter Park Stand will operate a new paper cup policy where the cups are 90% more recyclable than the single-use plastic pint pots.
Information on how to use the reusable cup facility will be visible on the big screens, near to food and beverage kiosks and above the stackable bins on the concourses within the stadium.
