Six Everton Players Named In England Age Group Squads

A total of six Everton players have been called up by England at age group level ahead of the international break.

Midfielder Tom Davies has been named in the England Under-21 squad for their upcoming matches against Slovenia and Austria.

The Toffees Academy graduate, who was named as captain by manager Aidy Boothroyd for the young Lions’ clashes with Turkey and Kosovo last month, is set to add to the 14 international caps he has won at Under-21 level.

First up for England is a friendly encounter against Slovenia at Stadion Ljudski vrt on Friday 11 October (5pm).

Boothroyd’s team then host Austria at Stadium MK in a UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifier on Tuesday 15 October (7.45pm).


Defender Lewis Gibson, meanwhile, has been selected in the England Under-20 squad for their friendly contests against Italy and Czech Republic.

Paul Simpson’s team face Italy in Parma on Thursday 10 October (3pm), before hosting Czech Republic at the Weston Homes Stadium, Peterborough, on Monday 14 October (7pm).

Everton forward Anthony Gordon has also been called up by his country and is set to feature for England Under-19s in next week’s International Marbella Cup in Spain.

England’s tournament opener is against France on Wednesday 9 October (6pm), before they face Belgium on Saturday 12 October (5pm)

Everton manager Marco Silva said recently that “high-quality” attacker Gordon is “really close” to breaking into Everton’s first-team squad. Read more by clicking here.

 
Three members of Paul Tait’s Everton Under-18 team will also be in action in Spain after Reece Welch, Tyler Onyango and Lewis Dobbin were named in the England Under-17s squad.

England will play three matches at the Pinatar Arena, Murcia. Kevin Betsy’s side have a double-header against Germany and will face them on Thursday 12 October and Sunday 12 October (both 6pm kick-offs).

England will conclude their trip by taking on Spain on Monday 14 October (1pm).
