How To Join Everton-Themed 5K From All Over The World

Evertonians and history buffs can take part in the first ever Everton-themed 5K wherever they are in the world – by registering as a virtual runner.

On Sunday 13 October, Everton in the Community (EitC) is partnering with race organisers BTR Liverpool to host the ‘If You Know Your History’ run. Starting at the famous Prince Rupert’s Tower, a 1787 ‘lock-up’ which proudly sits at the heart of Everton’s crest, the route takes runners on a 5K journey through 141 years of Everton Football Club’s history.

To ensure fans across the world can join in, organisers have introduced the option of a virtual run - allowing runners to complete their 5K wherever they are in the world and at a time that suits.

Entry for the virtual run costs £25, which includes race participation and a commemorative T-shirt and finishers’ medal sent in the post. Enter the virtual run via the BTR website.

Runners are also invited to take a selfie upon completion and send it to BTR Liverpool via its social media channels to be added to the run’s virtual gallery.

Competitors are also encouraged to fundraise for The People’s Place, which will see EitC develop a delivery site for the charity’s existing mental health programmes and enable signposting to other services. The People’s Place will provide an overarching service to anyone, regardless of age, gender, location or football colours, to promote positive mental health and deliver support relating to suicide awareness and prevention.

Anyone who raises more than £50 for The People’s Place will be entered into a prize draw to win a signed Everton shirt.

You can set up your fundraising page today by visiting https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/peoplesplace and clicking ‘start fundraising’.

Those taking on the actual route on Sunday 13 October will be cheered on by Everton legends Duncan Ferguson and Joe Royle, who will start the race.

The event will also feature information points throughout the route, staffed by Friends of Everton Park and the Everton Heritage Society. The route also takes in the former Queen’s Head, the Sandon Pub on Oakfield Road, Stanley Park, Priory Road and will finish at Goodison Park.

Please note, the entry fee pays to stage and deliver all aspects of the event, including T-shirts, medals, race packs, road closures, postage, and other resulting delivery costs. Participants are encouraged to fundraise to help support The People’s Place and Everton in the Community.
