Tyler Onyango’s volleyed finish ensured Everton Under-18s got their Premier League Cup group stage campaign off to a winning start as Paul Tait’s side beat Sunderland 1-0 at USM Finch Farm on Saturday.

The skilful forward netted just before the half-time whistle as the young Blues continued their fine start to the 2019/20 campaign.

The Toffees have won five of their opening six matches in all competitions this season.

The victory puts Everton top of Premier League Cup Group C, with Fulham and Norwich City playing out a 1-1 draw in the section’s other encounter.
