Antony Evans hit a sublime free-kick to spark an Everton recovery as the Under-23s hit back from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw against Manchester City on Friday night.

Looking to extend their unbeaten start to eight games, David Unsworth’s side fell behind to efforts either side of the break from Tommy Doyle and Nabil Touazi.

However, Evans turned home from 25-yards out just before the hour-mark, before striker Ellis Simms’ cool 82nd-minute header earned a share of the spoils after great work from Anthony Gordon.
