Today’s local and national newspapers reflect on Everton’s 2-0 Carabao Cup victory at Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night.

A first-half Dominic Calvert-Lewin double ensured the Blues' progress, with the draw for the fourth round of the competition set to take place on Wednesday night.

The Daily Telegraph carries quotes from Everton boss Marco Silva, who revealed his belief that Calvert-Lewin can build on his brace at Hillsborough.

“It was important for him to score twice and will be good for his confidence," he said.

The Liverpool Echo features Calvert-Lewin, with the boyhood Sheffield United supporter admitting scoring against the Owls carried extra meaning.

“It was a special moment for me coming back here [to Sheffield], I had a lot of family and friends at the game, some in the Everton end and a lot in the Sheffield Wednesday end,” he said.

“For me, growing up five minutes away from the stadium and playing in the park just over the road, it was a very special moment.”

The Echo also reports on the fan-funded anti-racism banner which will be unfurled at Goodison Park before Saturday’s match against Manchester City.

The banner is the culmination of a campaign led by the County Road Bobblers fan group to show solidarity with striker Moise Kean, who was a victim of racist abuse while playing for former club Juventus at Serie A rivals Cagliari last season.

Fans from across the globe have given more than £3,000 – enough to fund the banner and donate more than £1,000 to both diversity and inclusion organisation Kick It Out and the Blues’ award-winning charity, Everton in the Community.

The banner will feature an image of Kean and the words ‘No Al Razzismo’ (No To Racism).
