Everton manager Marco Silva expects to be without Andre Gomes for Tuesday’s Carabao Cup fixture at Sheffield Wednesday and says the midfielder remains a doubt for next weekend’s Premier League visit of Manchester City.
Gomes has missed the Blues’ last two games against Bournemouth and Sheffield United with a rib injury.
Asked if there was a likelihood of the Portugal international returning for the third round encounter at Hillsborough, Silva told evertontv: “I think no.
“He hasn’t started working with the team yet.
“It looks like he will not be fit for the Carabao Cup, and even City will be difficult for him [to be available].”
