Chloe Kelly has described her blockbuster strike in Everton’s win against Bristol City on Sunday as “one of the best goals of my career” and revealed she is confident her eye-catching performance can be a springboard for a productive 2019/20 campaign.

The 21-year-old forward hit both Everton’s goals as Willie Kirk’s team beat Bristol 2-0 to maintain their 100 per cent record in the FA WSL. The Toffees have won both their opening matches and sit top of the table.

Kelly’s goals at the weekend showcased her expansive range of attributes.

For her opener, the explosive forward drove at the Bristol defence before placing a pinpoint effort in off the post from the edge of the penalty box.

If that effort was impressive, Kelly’s second was spectacular.

After the ball was laid off by Molly Pike 25 yards out, she unleashed a rocket that arrowed into the top corner of Sophie Baggaley’s net.

“My social media has gone a bit mad since scoring that one!” she told evertonfc.com.

“I’m just buzzing. It’s good for the women’s game, too, the coverage that it’s got.

“As soon as it left my foot, I had the feeling, ‘It’s going in’. I struck it well and hit it very cleanly.

“It’s up there with one of the best goals of my career so far. It was an unbelievable day and we’re so happy to get the three points. 

“My family are buzzing, too, although they are no matter what type of goal I score!

“They keep calling me and saying, ‘We’ve seen the goal on TV and on social media!’. They just love it.

“They are very proud of me.”

Kelly missed the second half of last season after undergoing ankle ligament surgery, having suffered an injury while on international duty with England.

But having put in the hard yards during her rehabilitation, Kelly says she feels stronger than ever.

The talented attacker believes she is primed to help Everton embark on a successful season.

“It was bad patch for me [being out with injury],” she said.

“But it gave me a chance to build on strength in the gym, analyse my game and see where I can get better.

“I feel good and these goals will give me more confidence going into the season.

“I’m a player who thrives on confidence.

“I’m enjoying my football so much at the moment, and I’m at my best when I feel like that. There is more to come from me.

"The whole team have got massive belief at the moment, though. It's a great place to be and we want to build on our good start."
