WATCH: Girls' Team Invited To Join Everton Team Photo

Youth football team Tornado Girls got to see what life for a professional women's footballer is like this week when they were invited to USM Finch Farm to show off their skills and take part in the annual team photo day.

Willie Kirk, his staff and players got together for the squad snap ahead of their home opener against Bristol City this Sunday (kick off 12.30pm) and asked the Tornado Girls to come along after learning a large number of the team regularly attend Everton in the Community's Kicks sessions.

"The girls have a great attitude every time they come to train with us," said Everton in the Community's Dale Davies.

"They really look up to players like Gabby George, who is a real role model for budding female footballers on the Kicks programme.

"To get the chance to visit USM Finch Farm and see how the likes of Gabby and the other players prepare for the game will have been a brilliant experience for them and something I am sure they won't forget."

Keith Paterson, who coaches Tornado Girls, added: "It's been great for the girls. They've got to meet players who they're starting to see on the TV and see how they train and how they are part of the Club. For them, it's a chance to meet their heroes and hopefully they're the next generation."

Midfielder Meg Finnigan was delighted to welcome the youngsters to the Blues' training ground.

"It's great we've been able to have them here and show them around a little bit," she said. "We were all really pleased to have them here and we can see that they've enjoyed it, too."

Everton Women will be hoping to build on their winning start to the campaign when they welcome Kirk's former side Bristol to Southport FC's Pure Stadium on Sunday.

A Kerys Harrop own goal was enough to give the Blues Girls a fine 1-0 victory at Birmingham last Sunday and they now return to Merseyside to take on opponents whose own curtain raiser saw them held to a goalless draw at home by Brighton.
