Everton won their opening game in the Leasing.com Trophy on Tuesday night as they beat Mansfield Town on penalties following a 1-1 draw.

In-form forward Anthony Gordon showed some incredible foot work before bending the ball past Aiden Stone to open the scoring on 28 minutes.

That's how it stayed until Mansfield Town striker Omari Sterling-James produced an equaliser three minutes from time with a low drive into the bottom left corner.

However, David Unsworth's men won the shootout 4-1 to claim an extra point.
