Silva Gives Injury Update Ahead Of Villa Trip

Marco Silva has confirmed Lucas Digne will be fit to face Aston Villa on Friday night, with only new boy Fabian Delph definitely set to miss out on the trip to his former club.

Digne has overcome the muscle injury that forced him off during last weekend's 1-0 home win over Watford but Delph is again sidelined by a thigh problem.

Silva also confirmed Leighton Baines is available for selection having missed Everton's opening two fixtures of the campaign, while Morgan Schneiderlin is back in contention after serving a one-match suspension for his dismissal against Crystal Palace.

Forward Alex Iwobi is pushing hard to make an Everton debut at Villa Park after being an unused substitute against the Hornets.

"He [Digne] will be available for the match," said Silva when asked about the Frenchman at his pre-match press conference. "Leighton will be also. It's just Fabian until now.

"He [Delph] has already started with the team, not full sessions, but it's possible next week he will do a full session with the team and it will be a possibility for him to play a full match or during one of the two matches that we have to play [against Lincoln City and Wolverhampton Wanderers].

"[With Morgan] it's one of the solutions we have. We have Morgan and JP [Jean-Philippe Gbamin] for that position, Fabian is not available... I will decide and the players will know tomorrow."

Iwobi, a deadline-day arrival from Arsenal, last featured in mid-July, helping Nigeria defeat Tunisia in an Africa Cup of Nations third-place play-off.

Asked if the 23-year-old could be in line to start soon, Silva added: "For sure he is looking forward for that, we all are looking forward also.

"But he started really late, just now is his second week working with the team, he didn't do pre-season and, if you can, you have to take care with the situation and give him enough time to get fitter.

"But, of course, if you need him during the games he is able to help us, not for 90 minutes, but he's getting better and, if I decide [to play him], he'll be ready to help and to give the high quality that he has, I don't have any doubts about that."

Ahead of the visit to the Midlands, Silva also offered an update on the progress of another late window arrival in Djibril Sidibe.

The Blues boss has been impressed by the fitness levels Sidibe has been showing at USM Finch Farm and says the loanee from Monaco is ready to be called upon if needed as Everton prepare for three games in 10 days ahead of the first international break of the campaign.

"Djibril is training with the first team," said Silva. "He's trying to settle.

"He trained the whole pre-season with his former club so, when he arrived, his physical condition was really good and he's ready to play if I decide in this way.

"Of course, now it's just a matter for him to understand everything that is our idea and our philosophy as well but, if I decide [to play him], he is ready to play."
