'Proposed New Stadium Can Be A Cauldron Like Goodison'

Everton Director of Marketing, Communications and Community, Richard Kenyon, says ensuring the Club's proposed new home at Bramley-Moore Dock "is a cauldron and a fortress" was one of the key principle underpinning the stadium design concepts - as he urged people to have a say on the plans by completing an online survey before this Sunday's deadline.

Goodison Park was rocking during the Blues' 1-0 win over Watford on Saturday, which saw the return of the popular siren before Z-Cars, and Kenyon explained how retaining the Grand Old Lady's intimacy and intimidation factor was a crucial consideration when designs were being formed for Bramley-Moore Dock.

Kenyon also stressed the importance of as many people as possible completing an online consultation survey as the Club aims to submit a planning applications for a new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock and a community-led legacy project at Goodison Park by the end of the year. This will be the last chance for Evertonians to have their say and show their support for the proposals. People have up until 11.59pm on Sunday 25 August - when the People's Project second-stage consultation concludes - to offer their feedback.

"Evertonians have said they want the new stadium to be a cauldron, atmospheric, a fortress," Kenyon explained. "The Chairman [Bill Kenwright] and the architect Dan Meis have worked on that – and it’s fantastic to see that brought to life through the designs.

“It is crucial that people give us their feedback.

“It is very much at a proposal stage, and we want as many people as possible to give us their views.

“There will be things that people will really like about our concept, but we also want to hear aspects that people think can be added, be that in Bramley-Moore Dock or the Goodison legacy plans."

As well as being a vital project for Everton’s future, Kenyon also emphasised how the stadium proposals and legacy plans at Goodison Park will provide lasting benefits for the entire city region including a £1billion boost to the economy, the potential for up to 15,000 jobs, 1.4 million new visitors to the city and the £237million of added societal value.

“It's an important project for the city of Liverpool - the job creation, social value and economic impact it will bring," he added. "It will also have a positive effect on the city as a brand, being shown to the world every other weekend throughout the season. They are all huge positives aside from a new home for Everton.

“This second-stage consultation is a really important stage for The People's Project, so we can move into that planning application at the end of the year with confidence.”
