Everton Under-18s made an impressive start to their league campaign on Saturday as goals from Lewis Warrington and Reece Welch guided them towards a 2-1 win over reigning champions Derby County.

Warrington opened the scoring at USM Finch Farm with a sweeping low finish from the edge of the box on 24 minutes, before Welch headed in from a corner 11 minutes later.

The visitors hit back through Jaden Charles just after the hour mark but Paul Tait's young Blues held on to ensure their season began on a high.
