Monday’s Liverpool Echo carries quotes from Everton manager Marco Silva, who explains he will decide on deadline-day signing Alex Iwobi’s potential participation in Saturday’s home clash with Watford later in the week.

The Nigeria international, who completed a move from Arsenal on Thursday, will take part in his first training session with his new teammates on Monday.

“Alex was on holiday after the Africa Cup of Nations,” said Silva. “Let's see how he reacts [in training] but there is a big gap between him and his teammates, the physical condition will be a big gap, but let's see.

"Normally my decisions are coming from the training sessions and let's see how he will do and, after that, I will take my decision on Friday.”

The local read also features Toffees stopper Jordan Pickford, who believes Everton’s opening-day draw at Crystal Palace offers the Blues a strong platform for the new season.

“It's always a tough game and the conditions weren't the best, so I think it's a good point in the end, and it's a clean sheet,” said the England No.1.

“I know we finished with a man sent-off, but we weren’t just holding on, we kept the ball, played well and had a few chances at the end.

“You've got to build momentum throughout the season and keep that momentum going.”

The Daily Mail, meanwhile, suggests Everton forward Henry Onyekuru could be set to complete a move to Ligue 1 outfit Monaco.

The 22-year-old spent the 2018/19 season on loan at Turkish side Galatasaray.
