Everton Under-23s To Tackle European Heavyweights

Everton Under-23s will face illustrious continental pair FC Porto and PSV Eindhoven in this season’s Premier League International Cup.

The Blues’ four-team group is completed by Premier League 2 rivals Swansea City.

David Unsworth’s side, double winners last season – and set to kick off their league campaign against Leicester City on Monday 12 August – finished third in the group stage of this competition in 2018/19, albeit Everton's only defeat came at the hands of eventual winners Bayern Munich.

Porto are twice Premier League International Cup champions, the Portuguese team claiming the trophy in 2017 and 2018 after finishing runners-up to Manchester City in the first edition four years ago.

Dutch club PSV lost the 2016 final to Villarreal from Spain.

Six group winners progress to the last eight, with the remaining quarter-final spots claimed by the two best second-placed sides.

The dates for Everton’s group fixtures will be announced on evertonfc.com later this month.
