Marco Silva says Everton have completed one of their key priorities of the summer after sealing the transfer of Moise Kean – as he backed the 19-year-old striker to fight and “give everything to Everton Football Club”.
Italy international Kean has penned a five-year contract with the Blues, completing his switch from Serie A giants Juventus for an undisclosed fee on Sunday.
Regarded as one of the brightest young talents in Europe, Silva believes Kean’s power, pace and technique will give his squad different attacking options alongside the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Cenk Tosun.
And Silva is confident Kean’s desire to improve can enable him to thrive for the Blues in the Premier League.
“A striker was one of our priority signings this summer,” Silva told evertontv. “When we finished the season we analysed how we could improve our squad. Of course we have Cenk and Dominic but we want more competition, more solutions, and Moise was a good opportunity in the market.
“He is strong, fast, with many good qualities as a striker and he is just 19 years old. He has talent and he is ready to work, ready to improve our squad and gives us different solutions. We will work with him, give him time to adapt and then he can show his qualities.”
Kean made 13 appearances and scored six goals in Juventus’s Serie A winning campaign last season.
The striker made his league debut for the Turin club aged 16, replacing fellow forward Mario Mandzukic against Pescara in November 2016, and become Italy’s second youngest scorer when he netted against Finland in March 2019.
“It’s a very good challenge for Moise,” added Silva. “Of course he was at a big club, now he’s come to another big club and is ready to fight for this challenge and to give everything to Everton Football Club like everyone else in our squad.”
