What The Papers Say – July 8

It is one month exactly until the close of this summer’s transfer window  and Monday’s newspapers feature plenty of speculation about deals which could be completed before the new campaign kicks off.

The Daily Express tips Everton to move for Manchester City midfielder Fabian Delph.

According to the paper, former Leeds United player Delph will be allowed to leave the Premier League champions for £16million, with Everton joined by Turkish club Galatasaray in a chase for the England international’s signature.

Marco Silva has told the Liverpool Echo he is “hopeful” of sealing a deal for Kurt Zouma, the France international centre-half who excelled on loan at Everton in 2018-19.

Manager Silva – who revealed he wants to strengthen in “three or four” positions besides central defence  nevertheless insists he has “different solutions” in mind, in the event of Chelsea opting to keep hold of 24-year-old Zouma.

Argentine publication Ole claims Everton are trying to secure a work permit for Santiago Sosa, the River Plate midfielder who represented Argentina at this summer’s Under-20 World Cup and has been the subject of countless stories linking him with a switch to Goodison Park.

The future of Ajax attacker David Neres is back under the spotlight after Brazil’s Copa America campaign concluded successfully on Sunday.

Neres, a mooted Everton target, is also on the radars of Manchester United and Atletico Madrid, says Sky Deutschland.

Voetbal 24 in Belgium suggests Kevin Mirallas is set to leave Everton. The winger, who joined the Blues from Olympiakos in 2012, spent last season on loan in Italy with Fiorentina.

And Belgian Mirallas, who has one year remaining on his Goodison contract, could return to his homeland, with first club Standard Liege reportedly keen to land the 31-year-old.
