What The Papers Say - June 20

The views on this page are taken from the local and national media and do not necessarily reflect the views of Everton.

Thursday's Daily Star claims Andre Gomes is "excited" about potentially completing a permanent switch from Barcelona to Everton - and the same paper revisits speculation over the Blues' mooted interest in Ajax's Brazilian international forward David Neres.

The Daily Mail says "no problems are envisaged" in concluding a deal for midfielder Gomes, who played 29 times on loan for Everton from the Spanish champions last season.

Spain international centre-half Diego Llorente is being touted as an Everton target by Noticias De Gipuzkoa, which says the 25-year-old's Real Sociedad contract contains a 50million Euro release clause.

The Hull Daily Mail reckons Marco Silva is interested in Jarrod Bowen, the 22-year-old forward the Everton manager worked with when in charge at Hull City.

Futbol Arena in Turkey says Henry Onyekuru is set for a second season on loan with champions Galatasaray. Everton attacker Onyekuru scored 14 league goals to help the Istanbul club pip city rivals Basaksehir to the title last term.

The Liverpool Echo, in common with a number of nationals, reports on Leighton Baines signing a new one-year deal at Goodison Park.

The Echo picks up on Baines's praise for the "sincerity and vision" of Silva and Director of Football Marcel Brands, after the left-back committed to extending his Goodison Park stay to a 13th season.

In the same publication it is claimed Nikola Vlasic is on the brink of sealing a permanent £14m switch to CSKA Moscow, the Russian club where Everton's Croatian midfielder had a successful season-long loan last term.
