Tosun Captains Turkey To Victory Over Greece

Everton striker Cenk Tosun captained Turkey as they recorded a 2-1 friendly victory over Greece in Antalya.

The 27-year-old, who collected his 38th cap for his country, played 55 minutes before being replaced by Besiktas youngster Guven Yalcin.

By that point, the hosts were 2-0 ahead thanks to first-half goals from Roma's Cengiz Under and Fortuna Dusseldorf forward Kenan Karaman.

Greece netted a 93rd-minute consolation through Panathinaikos defender Dimitris Kourbelis.

Turkey face Uzbekistan in another home friendly on Sunday, before welcoming world champions France for a Euro 2020 qualifying fixture on Saturday, June 8.

Tosun could then face Everton teammate Gylfi Sigurdsson three days later on Tuesday, June 11, when his nation play a qualifier against Iceland in Reykjavík.

With maximum points from two games, Turkey currently sit second in qualification group H, trailing favourites France only on goal difference.
