Epic Speed Cycle Challenge Under Way

A group of football supporters set off from Newcastle United's St James' Park at 6am on Saturday morning as they embark on the 230-mile cycling challenge to honour the memory of Gary Speed and raise funds for Everton in the Community’s groundbreaking mental health campaign, The People’s Place.

The Speed Cycle sees the group ride to the home grounds of each team the former Everton skipper played at. The demanding route includes unforgiving climbs and lengthy, exhausting stretches.

A gruelling 114 miles will be cycled by particpants on Saturday, as they ride from the North East to Leeds United’s Elland Road stadium.
