Wednesday’s Liverpool Echo carries quotes from Everton first-team coach Duncan Ferguson, who has described Toffees striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin as “a young player with great potential”.

Calvert-Lewin has praised Ferguson’s coaching and the Scot has been encouraged by the England Under-21 international’s development over the past 12 months.

Blues legend Ferguson insists boss Marco Silva has helped to take Calvert-Lewin’s game to a new level.

"The manager [Silva] does some incredible work for the Club and the players, and of course I'm there helping where I can," he added. "Dominic's a young player who's got great potential, and we're here to help him”.

The Echo also reports on claims the Blues could be lining up a move for Lorient forward Alexis Claude-Maurice.

The 21-year-old Frenchman scored 14 goals for the Ligue 2 team last season and has also been linked with West Ham United and Arsenal.
