Tuesday’s Daily Mail suggests Everton have “taken a stride forward” in the race to sign Getafe defender Djene Dakonam.

Arsenal are also rumoured to be interested in the 27-year-old, who is said to be valued at around £30million.

The Daily Star reports the Toffees are continuing talks with River Plate over the transfer of Argentina Under-20 international Santiago Sosa.

The paper believes obtaining a work permit could prove to be a “stumbling block” in bringing the midfielder to Goodison Park, however.

The Daily Mirror and Daily Telegraph feature Everton and England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, who has stressed his belief he will continue to improve. The 25-year-old was the Three Lions’ hero in their UEFA Nations League penalty shootout victory over Switzerland on Sunday, when he both scored a saved a spot-kick.

“I just want to go and express myself and do the best for the nation and for the team,” Pickford said. “I just feel I can get better and better.”

The Liverpool Echo, meanwhile, reports on claims in the Turkish media that Besiktas are keen to sign Everton winger Nikola Vlasic.

The 21-year-old Croatia international spent last season on loan at CSKA Moscow.
