Jordan Pickford features heavily in Monday’s newspapers after his penalty shootout heroics for England in their UEFA Nations League third-place play-off victory over Switzerland on Sunday.

After the game had finished goalless, the Everton goalkeeper stepped up to score the Three Lions' fifth spot-kick before saving from Josip Drmic as Gareth Southgate's team triumphed.

The Daily Mirror carries quotes from Pickford, who explained his thought process before rifling in his penalty.

“I practiced a lot in training in the last three weeks, taking penalties,” he said. “They might be decisive and everyone has to be ready to take one. The gaffer gave me No. 5... I relaxed, went through my routine I've been practicing, and stepped up.”

In the Daily Mail, the 25-year-old stopper revealed his strong belief he can make vital saves in shootouts.

“I know if I go the right way on the penalties, I have a chance of saving them with my power,” he added.

The Liverpool Echo reports on Richarlison’s goalscoring performance for Brazil in their 7-0 friendly victory over Honduras in Porto Alegre on Sunday night.

As well as netting his fifth international goal, the Everton forward also provided an assist for Gabriel Jesus.

The Echo also speculates Getafe defender Djene Dakonam could be a transfer target for the Toffees.

Arsenal are also rumoured to be interested in signing the 27-year-old Togo international.
