Rodwell's Long-Term Plans

Jack Rodwell is planning a big future with Everton.

The teenager made his senior debut last season in Alkmaar and has been involved in David Moyes' squad regularly this term.

Rodwell readily admits he is still learning the game, especially as he's switched to central midfield having grown up as a defender.

Moyes has been sufficiently impressed by the 17-year-old's progress so far though, predicting he will play a major role for Club and country in the coming years.

"I was very pleased with those comments," Rodwell told evertonTV in an exclusive interview.

"It's great that the manager thinks so highly of you and hopefully Marouane (Fellaini) and myself will have good futures at Everton.

"Everything is going well and I am enjoying my football. We've started to get better results now and everything is good.

"We have got a good squad here. I realise I am going to be in and out of the team; on the bench one week and then not the next. I have just got to be patient."

Birkdale-born Rodwell revealed that he has spoken with Moyes about his development, insisting he is happy for the Everton boss to carefully plot his progress.

"The manager has explained the situation; I am young and I have got to learn. I need more experience which I am getting at the moment.

"I have always played centre half at a younger age. I got moved to centre midfield last year and haven't played in defence since."

It's not just at Club level that Rodwell has impressed though; he's a regular member of England Under-19s squads and even has half an eye on the Under-21 setup.

"I have got to keep doing well for my club and England Under-19s and maybe then I will get a chance for the 21s.

"We'll see how it goes this season for my Club."
