Jack's Diary - Tuesday

Welcome to the first installment of my Swiss diary.

This is my first pre-season trip with the first team squad but I'm enjoying the experience and it's a big help having a lot of other young lads on the trip.

I am rooming in the hotel with John Irving. He's a good mate of mine, we've known each other a while and we get on very well.

We've played in the same teams through the ranks for a few years and we've also got Lee Molyneux, Kieran Agard, Eunan O'Kane, Jose Baxter and Cory Sinnott over here as well.

It's a great experience being amongst the seasoned professionals and it is also definitely a big help having your mates over here and I am sure the other lads will say the same thing.

I got a good night's sleep last night after the journey from Liverpool.

The flight was okay, it wasn't as bumpy as I was expecting with it being a small plane. I sat next to one of the fitness coaches, Dave Billows, but thankfully I slept most of the way!

We were up at 7.30am this morning for an 8am run around golf course. It was tough but it wakes you up and at least there was some lovely scenery to look at as we were running along.

That run set the tone for the day. We worked extremely hard all day but I keep getting told it's all for our benefit!

The food here in the hotel is terrific and I am sitting at a table with Eunan, Lukas, Vaughany, Kieran, Cory and John Ruddy.

After the evening meal, Vaughany, Jukes and I played on the Playstation. Before you ask, I am the best player!

As for the rest of the night I plan to just relax, recharge my batteries and get plenty of sleep.

I've got some R&B and hip hop on my iPod so I'll listen to some music to help me drop off.

I've a feeling I'm going to need all the rest I can get!
